FAQ

PokeSurvivor FAQ: browser, mobile, and saves

These answers follow the FAQ printed on the game’s own site, the itch release notes, and the client strings where the FAQ is silent. If a detail is only in a design document, the answer says so. This guide has no separate corrections desk.

Spanish PokeSurvivor menu panel with entries for play, Pokémon, upgrades, gacha, missions, friends, ranking, and settings.
Menu panel from the itch screenshot. Friends is labeled for group play up to four. Settings is where the FAQ says you can change language, and where sound, graphics, controls, and the account live. The numbers on a collection row are that account’s, not a starting grant.
Is PokeSurvivor free?
Yes. The FAQ says it is a non-profit fan game with no ads and no purchases. A voluntary donation, if you make one, is described as paying for servers and giving no gameplay advantage. Tickets for the gacha are earned by playing and cannot be bought with real money.
Do I need to download it?
No, for the full game. You play in the browser on a computer, tablet, or phone. The FAQ says you can also use “Add to Home Screen” if you want an icon. The itch page offers a zip for people who want a local copy: unzip it and open index.html. That copy is solo only and saves in the browser. Co-op, cloud saves, and leaderboards are the online game at pokesurvivor.com.
Which browser does it need?
The play page says PokeSurvivor needs JavaScript. The FAQ says it runs in the browser on PC, tablet, and phone. No public page names a minimum Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge version, a RAM figure, or a WebGL requirement. If those minimums exist, they are not published where this guide could cite them. The game is a canvas page, so a browser with JavaScript turned off stops at the notice.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes, in landscape. Drag anywhere to move. The stick appears where the finger touches. Tap a move to switch, and use the top-corner button to pause. The page includes a rotate prompt that tells you to turn the phone. The design document says the run pauses while the phone stays vertical. Portrait play is not described as a supported way to play.
Is there an attack button?
No. The partner attacks with the selected move. Keyboard players move with W A S D or the arrows, switch moves with 1 to 4 or Q and E, and pause with Esc. The repository README also lists P for pause. Full schemes are on the how to play page.
Is the game in English?
Yes. The FAQ says it follows the browser language for English or Spanish, and that Settings can change it. The screenshots on this guide were published from the Spanish interface. English move, item, biome, and upgrade names in these articles are the game’s own English strings.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Online co-op supports up to four players. Add friends by nickname, invite them to the room, and start. Experience is shared, and you revive a fallen teammate by standing next to them. The design document adds “about three seconds” and “half health,” which the FAQ itself does not print. The host starts the run. A group pause does not freeze the match. The itch download cannot host this mode.
How many partners are there?
966, from all nine regions, Kanto through Paldea. The FAQ says each can be your partner, including a shiny form when one exists. How the 29 starters, the gacha, and wild shinies differ is on the partners page.
How do I unlock more partners?
From the starter set, from the regional gacha using tickets you earn, or by defeating a wild shiny. The public Pokédex describes starter and gacha as the ways you receive a partner. A normal wild defeat is not described as an unlock. Rift wins pay a ×10 ticket rather than handing you the legendary. Tickets are not sold for real money.
What is a rift?
A rare portal. Go in and you fight a legendary in one of 18 type arenas. Win and you receive a reward; the legendaries page specifies a ×10 ticket. Fall and you are sent back to the map. The whole group enters together. Arena names are listed on the runs page.
Is progress saved?
With an account (a name and password, or Google), the FAQ says the game is saved in the cloud and can continue on another device. Guests can play immediately, and nothing is saved. The repository README adds that an offline or unconfigured copy uses the browser’s local storage, and that two devices merge rather than overwrite: collections combine, upgrades and statistics keep the higher value, and coins and the chosen partner follow the newer version. Clearing site data clears a browser-only save. The exact merge rules are README text, not a paragraph in the FAQ.
What are missions and the ranking?
The FAQ lists daily and weekly missions, 127 achievements with medals and titles, a public profile, and leaderboards. The menu screenshot shows Missions, Friends, and Ranking as their own rows. The ranking is time survived. Period filters and a partner filter are described in the design document more fully than in the FAQ.
Is this an official Pokémon game?
No. The FAQ says it is a free, non-profit fan project, unrelated to Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company. The repository also names Creatures among the rights holders for the creatures. This guide is a separate fan site and is not the game’s developer. See About.
Does the game have a cryptocurrency?
The project says no. The repository README and a notice in the client say there is no official coin, token, or NFT, and that any token using the name was created by someone else. Nothing on this guide is investment advice. There is nothing to buy here.
Why do some pages talk about eight stages and three starters?
That is a different open-source fan game, Poké World Survivors, in the repository giovanneluna/poke-survivors. It is a Phaser project you run locally. The browser game’s itch page points its source link at github.com/JPTER78/pokesurvivor. The difference is written on the home page and the runs page.
Can I correct a mistake on this guide?
No direct contact or corrections channel is currently available for this site. The game has its own pages and repository. This guide does not publish an email address.
